The second event of the JTBA season was held August 21, 2011 at Bill White's Akron Bowl on Sunday with 122 players challenging the 34 ft short pattern! Our thanks to Isaly's, Pepsi, Bill White's Akron Bowl and Brunswick for adding to the scholarship fund for this event. Also thanks to Bill, Barb, Dave and their staff for hosting as they did an outstanding job!!! Also thanks to Jay Young and Randy Hart for the pattern which yielded only 12 plus scores!! Leading the way was Andrew Anderson of Holly, MI at +188 and Sydney Brummett of Fort Wayne, IN at +97. This pair continued to outpace the field in the 2nd block to finish with an 11 game total of +285 and +148 respectfully!! High game on the boys side was an 11 in row 298 for Martez Walker of East Cleveland, OH and for the girls Mikayla Young of Pemberville, OH with a 268. The cut to the top 30% for the girls was -153 and -103 for the boys to advance to the second block. Anderson and Brummett continued to excell to gain the top rung of the stepladder finals. The top 4 girls were Ashley Howe of Greensburg, Pa. Rebecca Fisher of Pittsburgh, Pa, Mary Wells of Westerville, OH and of course Brummett!! In match 1 Howe defeated Fisher, who split in the 6th and missed a spare in the 8th to give the win to Howe 226-190. Match 2 Howe converted a 6-7-10 split in 3rd but missed a 10 pin 4th to give Wells her spot in the final. Brummett would continue her strong performance in the final starting with the front 5 to cruise to a 233-169 win for her 2nd JTBA title. In the boys finals 5th seed Eric Sacks of Vandalia, Oh defeated 4th Trent Mitchell of Cleveland, OH 214-191. Sacks then faced Martez Walker and converted the 7 pin in the 10th to secure victory as Walker left the 2-4-10 in the 10th to give Sacks a 209-204 win. Next up for Sacks was 2nd seed Nicholas Mittenzway of West Mifflin, Pa. This match saw both players struggle with splits and spares as Sacks hung on 178-166. Anderson was ready to continue his domination as he stayed clean and turkeyed twice to capture his 1st JTBA title 224-193!!! Next up the 2011 JTBA Wright State Youth Raider Classic at Beaver-Vu Bowl in Beavercreek, OH on Labor day weekend. Plan to bowl 2 events at the same center as Sat.
