The JTBA returned to the PBA’s home in Columbus, Sequoia Pro Bowl, for the fourth consecutive year, to contest the JTBA Isaly’s Open on October 12. Tim Voss and his staff were prepared with the PBA’s Chameleon Pattern to test our players in the third of our three straight Sport Bowling Certified events. We’d like to thank Tim and Sequoia for their hospitality in hosting our event again this year.

Scores were once again indicative of the difficult pattern laid out, as Kenny Wichmann of Macomb MI led qualifying at +81 on the boys side. After lunch, scores stayed low as our Dayton winner Mark Mantle advanced to the semi-finals, where he would defeat on Josh Jablonski, who had defeated his brother in the Round of 8. On the other side of the bracket, 2008 Teen Masters National Champion Joe Imholte of Hamilton OH dropping a tough fought match against Jacob Maciulewicz, who advanced to his first career final. Mantle bowled a solid match, but it was Maciulewicz who won the match 2-1, to claim his first career JTBA title.
On the ladies side, last month’s winner Joy Arrigo led qualifying at -32, while it took a score of -202 to make match play. In match play, the first semi-final featured a battle of JTBA veterans, with Ashley Stahurski of Bexley OH taking on Arrigo. Stahurski would get the better of Arrigo, advancing to the title match 2-0. In the other semi-final, it was a battle Jr Team USA members, and Pikeville College roommates Kim Yioulos, and Sarah Germano. In three games it was Yioulos, who had lost in the title match in Sandusky, advancing to the final to meet Stahurski. Yioulos would take the final 2-0, and in the process claim the first JTBA title of her career.

Our next event is the always popular JTBA Adult Jr. Championship, to be held November 2 at Southwyck Lanes in Toledo. We look forward to welcoming back a number of alumni for that event, and as such have a number of adults who have asked us to match them up with youth partners. If any youth players are in need of a partner and would like to bowl in Toledo, please contact the JTBA office and we will do our best to match you up. One requirement, the adult bowlers may not have been a PBA Exempt Bowler since the 04-05 Season. Additionally, all youth rules in terms of advertising of tobacco and alcohol apply for the adult bowlers as well.
