JTBA Isaly's Championship (8/17/2008)Akron OH played host to the 2nd event of the 2008-2009 JTBA Season, with 95 Bowlers coming out to test their skills at Stonehedge. We’d like to thank Stonehedge for having us, and as always thank the folks at Isaly’s for their continued support of the JTBA. We are pleased to announce that Isaly’s will be the presenting sponsor of the JTBA Isaly’s Pittsburgh Masters, to be held January 11th 2009 at Nesbit’s Lanes in Pittsburgh. More details on that, and another schedule update will follow at a later date. Check www.jtba.com for all of the latest JTBA news and notes. Scoring was brisk for both guys and girls alike, as the bowlers tested their skills against Kegel’s 45 Route 66 Oil Pattern. Our leader for the boys after six games was Sterling Heights MI’s Adam Jablonski, at +217, while it took a score of +11 to advance to our match play finals. On the girls side, qualifying was led by Felicia Goll at +50. When match play got underway, Jon Schiller of Milford MI, quickly took over early , averaging a brisk 245 in match play, and going undefeated to claim the title. Schiller defeated Joe Sabo of Parma OH 2-0. Sabo advanced by taking out Ryan Dobie of Springfield 2-1, while Schiller swept Xenia OH’s Keith Clemons in his semi. Schiller earned $600 for his victory. On the girls side, the story reads much like last month, with the top seed Goll remaining undefeated in JTBA Tournament Play, by winning her second title this year, in her second career event. Goll defeated Mary Wells of Westerville, 2-1, in a highly competitive title match. Wells was on fire, defeating Heidi Sanders in the semi-final, by a score of 280-252 in the rubber match of her semi-final, while Goll defeated Monica Zeszotek of Middleburg Heights OH in the opposite semi-final. Goll took home a first place scholarship of $360. Our next event will be the annual JTBA Dayton Open at Beaver Vu Bowl on September 7th. This will be the first of four Sport Bowling Certified events this year, as tapes will be taken to ensure compliance with USBC Sport Bowling Rules. Sport Bowling membership is not required to bowl the event, however is necessary to receive Sport Bowling Awards in the case of any honor scores. We’re expecting a big crowd, so be sure to send in your entry early and avoid the line at check in on Sunday! Don’t forget about the Jr. Gold Scholarship Tournament presented by Midwest USA Scholarship Tournaments on Saturday September 6th. We distributed our membership forms as well as shirt order forms in Akron. These will also be available in Dayton for those who didn’t get the chance to pick theirs up in Akron. Please be sure to get the shirt orders back in September, so that we can get those out to you as soon as possible.
