JTBA Ducat's Imperial Lanes Open (05/04/2008)

The 2007-2008 JTBA Regular Season wrapped up on Sunday May 4th, with the season ending JTBA Ducat’s Imperial Lanes Open. We’d like to first thank Ducat’s Imperial for their hospitality and assistance with the event, including their sponsorship. We look forward to returning there for a third straight year next season. When the dust had settled, Alan Butzin and Addileen Pointer, both of Michigan, were left standing as they both earned their first career JTBA titles. Alan ButzinAlan Butzin

On the men’s side, Tim Pfeifer showed the way through qualifying with a score of +140, followed by another Michigan native, Matt Anderson of Davisburg, in second at +119. Cut score was +8. In the finals, Alan Butzin took on Josh Burkhardt, who had already won three times this year. Burkhardt took game one, and looked to be well on his way to a title in game number two, until a split in the 9th frame derailed his game, and allowed Butzin to step up in the tenth and deliver a clutch three bagger to win by just one pin. In game three, it was all Butzin, starting with the first 9 strikes, and taking home his first career title.

On the ladies side, yet another Michigan native Felicia Goll lead qualifying at -12, while our cut score was at -114. As match play continued, it was Addileen Pointer who marched her way through the field, taking down points leader Hedi Sanders in the final. Pointer advanced to the final by defeating Natasha Martin in the semi’s, while Sanders advanced past Mary Wells. Addileen PointerAddileen Pointer

Our next event will be the annual JTBA Championship Tournament, which will make its inaugural visit to Southwest Bowling Center in Urbana. This event is invitation only, and is open to those who have completed the eligibility requirements set forth in the JTBA rules. Entry forms will be mailed to those eligible on May 15th. Consult jtba.com for eligibility status as well as Championships information.

Finally, Toledo completed our JTBA Player of the Year, as well as Rookie of the Year Races, and also solidified our High Average Award Winners for the season. These will be announced in Urbana, as well as the Sportsmanship Awards, which may be voted on until May 28th.

For those who will not be joining us for Championships, we look forward to seeing everyone for the opener of our 2008-2009 Season, August 3rd at Varsity Lanes in Bowling Green. The completed JTBA Schedule for 2008-2009 should be announced at Championships, as we are still finalizing a few dates for next season.
