The JTBA headed to Columbus for the second time this season for the first annual NetServ Group LLC Open. AMF Main Lanes played host to their first tournament as well, and we’d like to thank both Netserv and Main Lanes for their support. After the dust had settled on Saturday night, Jon Schiller of Milford MI, and Sarah Germano of Rochester NY were left as our champions, each winning their second JTBA title of the Season.
Jon Schiller
On the men’s side, the entire event was owned and dominated by lefty Jon Schiller, who began the day by shooting 815 the first three games of the event, and followed that up by scoring a 236 triplicate in the last three of qualifying to finish at an astonishing +323, nearly 200 pins ahead of second place Jeremy Fleck of Dayton. Once match play began, Schiller continued his torrid pace, scoring only one game under 200 on his way to the title. Our runner up was Dean Reynolds, who defeated Fleck in a thrilling semi-final to advance to meet Schiller. Shockingly, the high game of the event was tossed by Mr. Schiller, with a 290.
On the ladies side, Alyshia John of Wadsworth OH led qualifying at +2. Unfortunately, her performance earned her a first round match with eventual champion and Jr. Team USA member Sarah Germano, who would upset John by just two pins in game three to advance. Germano then defeated current JTBA points leader Heidi Sanders of Fremont OH in the semi-final. From there Germano met Dayton Open winner Tori Metzger in the final, and after a back and forth three game match, she emerged with her second title of the year, and of her career.
Sarah Germano
Our next event will be final regular season event of the year, the JTBA Ducat’s Imperial Lanes Open. The JTBA returned to Imperial last year after a several year hiatus, and this year, they have graciously offered to sponsor our event. This is the last chance for bowlers to punch their ticket to our Championship in Urbana. Before a single ball is thrown in Toledo, there are already 41 players eligible to bowl in Urbana, with an additional, 21 who can qualify by either bowling in Toledo, or advancing to match play in that event. If you have any questions regarding your status for Championships, check jtba.com, as our Championships page is updated with those who have already, or can qualify in Toledo.
Also online is the updated Championships Schedule, with squad times, as well as lane pattern and format information. A prize list for Championships will be posted shortly after the completion of the Toledo event. Already we have over $10,000 to award at Championships.
